How much can the 2026 Nissan Pathfinder tow?

Nissan rates the 2026 Nissan Pathfinder to tow up to 6,000 lb (2,722 kg) on a ball hitch in 4 configurations, for example SV with SV Premium Package, 3.5L V6, 2WD or 4WD, at 11,102 lb GCWR, with SV Premium Package (towing prep receiver hitch, harness, enhanced transmission cooling); tongue load 600 lb, GCWR 11,102 lb (owner's manual). The highest conventional tongue load Nissan publishes is 600 lb (272 kg) (Nissan, 2026 Pathfinder Owner's Manual, Towing a trailer, pp. 556 to 560).

A maximum is one truck, not yours. The rating that applies is the one for your exact cab, bed, engine, drive, axle and packages, and it is printed on the labels in the driver's door opening. What the Pathfinder needs to tow its rating

These come from Nissan's own documents, cited in the sources below.

• The 6,000 lb rating needs Nissan's tow package: press kit, the SV and SL Premium Packages add a "towing prep receiver hitch, harness, enhanced transmission cooling (6,000-lb max towing capacity)"; Rock Creek and Platinum have the tow hitch with harness as standard.
• Owner's manual: maximum tongue load 600 lb with the Tow Package and 350 lb without; keep tongue load between 10 and 15% of the total trailer load.
• Owner's manual: "When towing a trailer load of 3,500 lbs. (1,587 kg) or more, trailers with a brake system MUST be used."
• Owner's manual: "A weight-distributing hitch system (Class IV) is recommended if you plan to tow trailers with a maximum weight over 5,000 lbs. (2,268 kg)."
• GCWR is 11,102 lb with the Tow Package and 8,820 lb without (owner's manual). GVWR is 6,063 lb on every grade and drive (press kit).
• Trailer Sway Control is standard on every grade (press kit).

Payload, tongue weight and GCWR: the limits you hit first

Our guidance, not a rule. This is how the ratings above fit together, not a figure from Nissan.

The tow rating is only one of five limits. The trailer's tongue weight sits on the truck, so it comes out of payload along with every passenger and everything in the bed, and it loads the rear axle. The truck and trailer together must stay under GCWR. A truck with a big crew and a full bed can reach its payload or GCWR with a trailer well under its tow rating. Differs in trim mix, not in the rating: Nissan Canada's 2026 press kit lists Rock Creek and Platinum only, both with standard Intelligent 4x4, a standard Class III tow hitch and a standard 6,000 lb (2,722 kg) towing capacity. On a Canadian truck the certification label gives GVWR in kilograms, labelled both GVWR and PNBV (Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations (C.R.C., c. 1038), s. 6(1)(e)(i)). The figures to trust are the ones on your own door opening.
